How is closing the west end of the bleachers going to "help" with the already crowded seating? Maybe keeping them open AND adding overflow! Maybe not allowing swimmers or groups to "reserve" a total row of seats for parents who arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the meet.It is always an issue !!! But also a great meet !

We have no choice, but to close the west end of the bleachers due to a structural problem. We are adding additional bleachers on the west side of the Women's Course to make up for the lost seating. We expect the number of swimmers to be down due to the new suit regulations as well as lowered time standards.

John
from what you are saying and my picturing the pool layout, will coaches still be able to stand between the railing and the diving boards on the west side, along the length of the womens course?
thanks

No. They will not. We are also moving the Starter's position to the bulkhead on the West Course. Please keep in mind that we are losing 20% of the seating capacity in the stands. We are being squeezed for space for our athletes, coaches and parents. After, we receive entries and get an idea of ticket sales, we will have a better idea of what if anything else needs to be done. On our seating issue, we are working closely with Mike Leonard and the Coaches Association as well as the Aquatic Complex.

Any thought being given to alternating the men and women's courses so that coaches can better see their swimmers performance and strokes and better serve them in making corrections for later swims?
Thanks

No. The rest rooms are situated behind the pools that are being used. We implemented this 2 years ago in oder to help swimmers get to the starting block and not slow down the running of the meet. Hopefully, our Time Standards Committee can make additional cuts which might allow the pools to be alternated going forward.

I see on the online entry page that 1536 swimmers are entered....is that the most ever? I only ask because if the seating issue is cut by 20%, it's an obvious problem. I am sure the meet committee will have a plan to resolve this.

Last year, there were 1,675 entries. We have made plans to handle the issue. We would ask for everyone's patience on the first day of the meet for both preliminaries and finals since they are usually our most crowded sessions.
