I have to admit, I hate being "the one" but I was surprised not to see a discussion about this already...

What possibly can be done to solve the communicated problem with the seating for the 2011 SC YNAT meet? Having been to the meet for a couple of years, and knowing the hysteria that surrounds the seating for spectators I am very concerned about the current situation..

I understand it is very taboo to discuss, but I can't think of a solution that will not negatively impact the meet experience for our athletes. I know that everyone is very hard at work to find a solution, and I have read the news items that are available. My only intention here is to open a discussion that will allow coaches to voice their concern for the athletes, which is the reason the meet is run; not spectators.

So, my plead: Please do not sacrifice the already VERY cramped athlete areas to accommodate spectators... A marshalling system for spectators is in order here, much like the "bullpen" system of yore for athletes. PLEASE KEEP THE INTEGRITY OF THE ATHLETES PERFORMANCE IN MIND WITH ALL DECISIONS.

Thanks...

With input from every member of the Coaches Association Advisory Committe, senior staff from the YMCA of the USA, members of the National Advisory Committee, Officials Committee, Meet Committee, Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, city and county representatives, we have posted an addendum to our Meet Handbook as well as new Pool Map on this website. Our plan for buying tickets to the meet is included in the addendum. We would ask that everyone work together to make it a "great" meet. Our Forum is intended for information purposes only.
