Hi Bob,
I will be meeting with Carole Bell and some of the coaches from N.J. . I would definetly like them to explain why They are going to Pa for a N.J. State Meet.
I was not informed about this change. This meet needs to be approve through myself and the East Field Committee. If you are at Nationals please introduce yourself to me . I really need your feed back.

I am a coach from a NJ Y and I know that Glenda was informed of the venue in PA.  The NJ Y States was held in PA because no NJ site was available for the sessions format that would benefit the swimmers.  GCIT would only allow a Friday night and full Sat & Sun while, Princeton is not interested in hosting meets at that time and Rutgers is busy with NJ Swimming meets.  There are not enough facilities in NJ to accomodate all of the swimmers in both Y and Club swimming.  A reasonable drive to PA was investigated as the opportunity came about along with other venues outside of NJ.  Most teams travel to South Jersey for GCIT and pay hotel and food and travel expenses, so it's really no different to travel to PA.  Swimmers did get home late, but there really is no reason to miss school on Monday.  I think and a lot of NJ teams think it was a great meet, great location, and a successful weekend.  SVY did a wonderful job in hosting this meet and the meet results back that up!

Glenda,

Just received your post responding to the 2008 Pa F&M location for NJ States.  I think that some of the confusion is that neither parents - nor perhaps some coaches - understand the relationship between Y National and the local Y State committee, and - since this is the only forum for that communication - expect the Y Nationals to control the location of NJ States.  If the sanctioning process only includes formal satisfaction of the requirements for a State Championship - and not its location - it would be helpful for that to be made clear.

In the absence of any other forum - NJYSwim.org has been down for months - concerned parents need to address their coaches or work through through their Parent's organizations, as hard as that might be.  Though the latter are relatively powerless, and expressing dissatisfaction to the coach has its risks, they can at least express on a very local level the dissatifaction with the location of this meet.  Perhaps planning ahead, for 2010, could result in a venue in-state that would be more acceptable.   But that level of communication has to be stated explicitly.  I think most of us expect the National to be exercising more control than it has.

I would note that at least this year swimmers will have warm-down facilities at F&M since most prelims except distance events are being run in 8 lanes, not 16 simultaneously.  That, at least, is an improvement brought by splitting 12/u and 13/o venues.

I think you need to address this with your coach. This is not an East Field decision. These arrangements have been made by N.J. State Committee.
Address the issue with Carole Bell and Jack Crusino.

Hi All, can anyone tell me if NJ state meet will be at F & M again for the 2010 championships? Does anyone know how many more years we will be there? Thanks!
