![]() Topic: "FINA Approved" suit labelPosted: Jul/06/2010 at 11:57pm |

The January 25th memo from USA-S regarding acceptable suits states that "all approved suits must include a non-removable marking or label on the swimsuit indicating the swimsuit has been "FINA approved", along with an indication of the approval date.
However, there are still many suits in use that pre-date the availability of the "FINA approved" label.
Bruce Stratton has clarified that "We (USA-S) are only going to require the FINA labeling at our USA Swimming Championship Meets (Nationals, Junior, US Open) and the Grand Prix meets. There will not be a requirement for labeling at the other levels of competition".
There is no mention about whether YMCA Nationals is considered a high enough level meet to REQUIRE the FINA label. Can you please let us know whether the FINA label will be required for suits?
Thanks!

We have discussed this issue with Bruce Stratton and have agreed that we will not require a FINA label on the swimsuits for the YMCA national meets. However, the swimsuits must meet all the FINA requirements for acceptable swimwear. All times from this meet will be entered into the SWIMS database and will qualify the swimmers for entry into higher level USA-S meets, as appropriate.
